I remember both girls from the skating rink back then. They were very sweet and I can't believe that these boys could do something like this. I know we will see them again and I send my condolences to their family.

I support the death penalty more and more each time I read stories like these. This one, though, is by far one of the saddest and most inhumane thing I've ever read. I challenge any fool who is against the death penalty, and claim it is "cruel and unusual" to read this and say putting those animals to death is cruel and unusual.

I lived in Houston at the time and was horrified when I heard what happened to these young sweet girls. I have always been a supporter of the death penalty. I am looking for information about the current status of the animals on death row. Someone told me that due to some new legislation, they were to be sentenced to life instead. Jennifer and Elizabeth didn't have a chance to have their lives and neither should any of the animals that caused their deaths. My prayers are with the families of the girls.

I was truly disgusted by the mens' brutality. It almost seemed impossible that a person could do that. This story brought tears to my eyes! I know there is nothing I can say or do to help you, because I have no idea what you could be going through. I am writing a paper on the death penalty. Thank you very much for helping me.

I feel sorry for both families, who perhaps had to endure the hardest time of their lives. Being a mother myself I would want the killers to pay for what they did. But at the end of the day it still does not and will never take the pain away from the loss of a child. My prayers go out to both of the families.

Wanted to know what Joe Medellin was accused of because he is fighting his punishment.

I am sorry (accused) was not the word I wanted to use. I wanted to know what Joe Medellin did and why he was looking to not be executed. That guy is were he belongs, and if they change the punishment that would be nothing but a slap in the face to these two beautiful angels.

I did a google search and visited your site after reading the article on www.CNN.com about the courts reconsidering the trials because the defendants were denied access to consulates. Where were your daughters' rights to their consulates the night they died? I hope the conviction of all of those that are guilty is not overturned. You will always be in my prayers from this night forward.

I am from a state that thankfully isn't plagued by much gang violence. I have never read anything so horrible in my entire life. I am a mother of 4 children. I cannot begin to imagine your pain. In my religion, we are supposed to forgive those who sin against us, as Jesus did. I don't know how that would be humanly possible in this case. I will pray for you. I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your daughter. I am ashamed of a country that allows illegals to roam the streets & terrorize its people. Both of the girls were so beautiful. The males were monsters that hurt them so. May their souls rot in hell.

Dear Pena and Ertman family! Unfortunately I never had the honor to know any of your daughters; I came across the webpage by chance and read through this story with tears in my eyes. There are no words to help me express my sympathy and compassion and grief for what has happened to your families. I believe that Jennifer and Elizabeth are in heaven and doing well. I hope that one day you will, as good as it's possible, be able to continue living ordinary lives because surely that's the way that Elizabeth and Jennifer up in heaven want it to be.

My heart goes out to the Ertman and Pena families. I was in the U.S. Army when this horrible murder occurred. I grew up in the area and attended the same school just a few years earlier. I am now a police officer and just today went to visit the beautiful memorial that was put at the park in their memory. It was dark and all my partner and I could do is stare into the night in disgust over what they went through. I knew of the horrific story but did not know the details of the incident until after reading this website. I feel comfort in knowing that these two angels are in heaven and that justice will be served one day. May God Bless the Ertman and Pena families.

Jenny would always be laughing and hanging out with Christina and the rest of her friends and I remember watching on the news when it happened and couldn't believe it happen to them. You always think something so bad can never happen this close to home. I just pray that they are safe in Jesus arms and that the families are remembering all the good times they had together. Here I am almost 29 and it still is hard to sink in.

I am 16 at this time and I know that it was very hard for you to let go but all of that happened for a reason, I am not saying that those people were right because they were extremely wrong and I am now doing an essay on the death penalty and I was saying that it was wrong but after reading your story I feel that at times it can be right and at times it can be wrong, in your situation I think it was right in a way because those people had no sense and by doing that and being in a gang, period, says that they had no care for themselves. I know it is hard but I think you should forgive!! I am truly sorry for your loss and I hope you all are doing much better!! May god grant you the strength to go on and take it one day at a time!! It isn't very easy to let someone that is special in your life go but, always understand that we are only here for a season. God said in his word that in everything there is a season. I've read your story and am so sorry for your loss....I've never lost a child through death but I have had one taken away from me....I know how it hurts....I'm praying for you.... They were both beautiful girls and they didn't deserve what those animals did to them....I'm glad the judge didn't go easy on the juvenile when he came up for his hearing....I don't believe that these creeps would ever change.... When they get out, they just do it again....It is how they get their kicks....Please remember the good times with your daughters and try to erase the memory of what happened to them.... That is what I try to do but it isn't always possible....I still cry myself to sleep and it has been 3 years....God be with you....

I was reading through the ACLU's case files and their links, I ran across yours...I was unable to stop reading...I know there's nothing I can say to help, or give aid, or do to stop your pain. Even sympathy, or sorrow doesn't seem enough.

I have to tell you that I am terribly sorry for what happened. I am doing a report on the death penalty for school and I would like to thank you for helping me to realize that people like these men should be put to death for their unthinkable crimes.

I am doing a debate for school on the death penalty. I am a pro for the death penalty. It is stories like this that make me believe that the death penalty should be legal. This is the only punishment for guys like these. Please email me back and let the families know that they have people praying for them and stand behind them 100%!

I'm 14 years old and attend Kimberly middle school. I was doing a debate on death penalty and I said we should have it. And all those men who have done this to your daughter should of been sentenced to it. I'm so sorry for what has happened. nothing's worse than having your own children murdered. They'll always be with you, not physically but mentally. they are both beautiful young ladies and i don't know how anyone could of done that. I'm truly sorry. I do not know how you feel and i don't know if I could imagine it, but be strong. god bless you and I hope to hear from you. Nicole Pruneau

After I heard and read this story I could feel the tears on my face. I too am a mother of a 15 year old and I guard and protect her with my own life. I feel that the death penalty is still not enough for these terrible killers. I feel that what they did to the girls should be done to them and than given the death penalty. But than again justice will be done by our mighty "Lord". My condolences to their families and may the good "Lord bless you. My heart goes out to you.

I am very sorry for the loss. I know what the pain feels, when you lose someone you love so much. I lost my father on 1-2-05 a homicide. someone very cruel robbed my father at a store. hit my father on the side of his head with a gun. a week later he passes away from the swelling in the head that caused him brain damage. and who ever did this to my father is still walking the streets because they haven't found this dirty low life person. my father was a great father; he has 4 grandkids that miss him very much. it just hurt so much not to see my father at home with my mother fixing things (he was great for that). my heart goes out to the family.

This similar incident happened to my Sister in Florida, in 1994, and the killer, the rapist was never found. She left behind 2 little baby Boys. Again, you are STILL BLESSED, and GOD is alive! I hope the Supreme Court's decision does not effect the death sentences handed out in this case. This was by far the most horrible incident I have ran across. Maybe some people there in Texas will still uphold their death sentences. If they end up getting life w/o then I hope their suffering never ends and they live the rest of their lives in a world of pain. I wished we could put Randy in a room with each one of them just so he could break their freaking necks.

First of all, I think death by lethal injection is a much too humane method of execution for the "vermin" that raped and murdered these two girls. Death by crucifixion, stoning or burning at the stake seem more appropriate for their crime. Now it appears that they may all get their executions commuted to life in prison. I just hope that there is a special place in hell for these 5 animals.

To the families of these beautiful young ladies.... I know that you feel that justice has been denied to you in light of the recent supreme court ruling... Take heart that it is only for the time being for no one can stop God's judgment. This is where faith takes over. Your terrible pain, hurt & grief have not gone un-noticed by God. Let Him take care of your babies and know that JUSTICE is coming. I too have been touch by violent crime but certainly not in they way that you have by having your children taken from you. You have my prayers and a shoulder to support you even though you don't know me. I pray that one day the law will no longer be for the criminals and instead be in the name of the victims that these monsters have taken from us all.

To Ertman and Pena Families, I am very disappointed in the United States Supreme Court's ruling in favor of abolishing the death penalty for juveniles. I read a newspaper. Raul Villarreal's mother made me sick because she was so happy about it and said, "This is the best news in all my life." Why? Is it because she enjoyed the murder of Jenny Ertman and Elizabeth Pena? That is outrageous! There is NO JUSTICE! The U.S. Supreme Court stinks. By the way, your families are in my prayer. Please accept the Sovereignty of God, so you will have faith in Him and Christ and forgive others. Let it be.

First of all thank you for keeping this site up. I have followed this case since the beginning and my heart has always been with the family of Jenny and Elizabeth. I must say though that I am not that upset with the supreme court ruling, at least for these two. I feel like death may be too easy for them considering what I believe they go through on a day to day basis now. I have never attended or stood out side in support of any execution but, I vowed to my self and my wife 12 years ago that I would, at the very least, stand in support outside that prison when each one of these murders were executed. I would even like to offer being a "stand in" for the viewing of the execution of Peter Cantu, but I am sure that I am in a very long line. I do not feel that justice has been done until the execution of Cantu. I strongly believe that if Cantu was not there, the murders may not have happen. Rest in peace, Elizabeth and Jennifer. Keith Watts, Houston, Texas, just down the road from Huntsville, looking forward to making that trip at least three times.

Although the Supreme Court ruled in favor of abolishing the death penalty for juveniles, remember the two that now have their life spared will now be put in prison general population, where I hear they do not like rapists, pedophiles, and child murderers. Maybe it will give some peace of mind to know that they may suffer at the hands of their fellow inmates. Then will they both know what if feels like to be raped!! Also keep in mind that Jose Medellin has his case up for review in the Supreme Court later this month. He is arguing that his rights were violated because he is a foreigner and his country was not notified of his case. I just hope that they review the case and realize he participated in a very brutal rape and murder and deny him a reprieve. Nothing will ever bring Jennifer and Elizabeth back but we have to hope that the family has some kind of closure by witnessing at least 3 of the 5 murderers being put to death. Rest in peace, Elizabeth and Jennifer.

Although Jennifer and Elizabeth were not super close to me, I knew them both and knew them well enough to know that each one of them deserved a happy life. I remember Jennifer as being the "young, tall, blonde" girl who loved to shop and always wear the latest fashions! Every time I see a Rainbow-brite doll, I automatically become teary-eyed as we use to call Jennifer that! I remember Elizabeth as being the one with the really cute boyfriend and I remember the way she styled her hair. They both would have graduated with me in 1996, but 5 demons had other plans! What makes this even tougher is that I knew all but one of the guys that did this! Before today, for 12 years, I had not read the whole detailed account of what actually occurred the night my friends' lives were taken. I am truly appalled by what these girls endured and how they suffered a long, hideous death. Then to make matters worse, on March 1, 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of these criminals. It makes no sense...this court system is concerned more with these criminals than the victims and their families. I am so upset and so frustrated and I am not even part of the family. Efrain Perez and Raul Villareal already had their execution date set, so why can't we just get it over with and kill these pigs? They did it and that's it! Who cares that they were only 17? Jennifer was only 14 and Elizabeth was only 16. But did these guys ask their age before brutally killing them? Did they care? Hell No! It makes no sense! It is so unfair and so unjust! Everything thus far has meant nothing now knowing that these two monsters will not die for their part in this notorious crime! It eats me up alive knowing that these guys are living, breathing, walking, & talking everyday of their lives and now they know their lives will be spared and they will not have to face lethal injection. I can bet you they think they have beat the system and they have won! Haven't they? This is what they wanted and now they got it! But what about Jennifer and Elizabeth's family? All they want is their daughters back! And now they will not have the pleasure of watching the execution of Raul and Efrain. But at least they will see Joe, Peter, and Sean put to death within the next year or so. Ever since I heard the news of this newly passed law, I have been on edge and waiting to explode. And now at least I got a chance to vent by typing these few lines and expressing my feelings about this whole nonsense that should never have occurred to begin with. I really just want to thank Mr. Ertman and Mr. Pena for having such wonderful daughters, which I had the pleasure of meeting and let you all know that your daughters loved you very much! I am deeply sorry for what happened and I am on your side and I can not wait until those bastards die for what they did! Jennifer and Elizabeth - you will never be forgotten! You two will always hold a place in my heart!

Today in Colorado there was an article about Efrain and what he did. I looked on the internet and found his site. I am glad you too have one in memory of these girls. He tries to be a victim, but he's not. God bless.

I don't think I've ever read such a detailed description of what really happened to the girls.. It makes me so sad to imagine what they had to endure.. These people are monsters.. and to think that their lives being spared... where's the justice????!!!! I am so sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you always. I remember Jennifer, she was always so happy. I never had the pleasure of meeting Elizabeth but I wish I would have, I've heard many wonderful things.

I pass by the beautiful memorial in T.C. Jester Park on my walks. I am outraged at what happened and what is still happening. The criminals who did this should have been put to death a long time ago. There is still gang graffiti in the area. Why won't Houston crack down on gangs? They should all be RICO Acted out of existence. Put them all in chain gangs.

I live in North Carolina and was 9 years old when this happened. I do not remember hearing about this case on the news...I just happened to stumble on this website while researching the death penalty for college (I major in criminal justice). I have always believed that the death penalty was an appropriate method of punishing those that commit the most horrific of crimes, taking the life of another human being. However, in this case, I truly believe that lethal injection would be a cakewalk in comparison to what these two young ladies had to go through. I also believe that juveniles have the ability to change from a criminal offender to being an out-standing citizen. Yet, they have to be willing to accept their actions and try to learn from the past. The young men, or barbarians, in this case seem to not care that they took two lives for nothing, maybe a couple pieces of jewelry. They do not understand that lives mean more than any piece of jewelry and if they really wanted it, they could have asked. If the girls knew that if they did not hand over any valuables they would die then I am sure they would have handed everything they had on them that was worth something. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing that people will kill for any reason, or no reason at all. What hurts even more than the fact that their beautiful daughters are no longer with them is the fact that the Supreme Court has now ruled that minors can no longer be sentenced to death. It used to be that if you were at least 16, depending on the crime committed, then they could receive the death penalty. However, this is no longer the case. It seems that as the years go by, the rights of the offenders are more important than those of the victims and/or their families. It's awful how our society has come to place the victim on the back burner in order to ensure that the criminal is taken care of. Who cares??? I am a big supporter of the concept of "an eye for an eye". If this would be accepted the world-over, then these assholes would have had the same thing happen to them, (the use of broomsticks or some other object would be implemented) the day that they were convicted. There is nothing I can say to the families of these two beautiful girls to ease the pain, let alone take it away. The pain will always be there. Over time, rest in the fact that these two young ladies are in a better place, singing with God and looking out for those they left behind. One day in the future, there will be a grand reunion between these two angels and those they left behind while those that took their lives will be burning and rotting in hell, which in all reality would too good of a place for them. I mean, it just makes me so mad how anyone can deliberately take the life of another and show no remorse what-so-ever, unless its fake so that their punishment can either be done and over with or less severe. The death penalty is the only form of punishment that made the most sense and now it seems that justice may not be served at all. Now, other families are in danger because before long these maniacs will be released back onto the streets and who knows what else they will do to create tragedy. I want to let the families and friends of these two young women know that I am praying for you all. May God bless you all and give you the strength needed to get by day-to-day. God Bless, Take Care, and My Deepest Sympathies to all those that knew and loved Jennifer Ertman and Elizabeth Pena...

I am so very sorry for your loss. I am a victim of a violent crime, nothing like what your daughters went through, but I know what it's like to fear for your own life and I am outraged by the Supreme Court's disgusting decision on 3-1-05. As a result of the ruling, I plan to join Justice for All and hope I can help you fight for victim's rights.

I'm sure there watching out so no one will go the way they did. No one should ever have to leave this earth at  the hands of someone. We should go when god calls for us. Upon hearing the news of the high court's ruling today, I felt hurt and wanted to express my anger & disappointment. As a juror for one of the trials, I was certain that our justice system had worked when we deliberated and agreed on the death penalty for these murderers. We made the right decision back then and even years later I still believe the death penalty was the correct choice for all for the defendants. I will never forget the emotional trial and I wish that I could have met Jennifer & Elizabeth in life, instead of learning about them in death. Each year that passes, I think about how old they would be now and what their lives would be like if they had never taken that shortcut that night. My prayers are with the Ertman and Pena families, both then and now. I know that time has passed but their pain is still there. After the trial ended and they released the jurors, the news cameras and reporters approached me as I left the courthouse. I wanted quickly to leave and get back to my family and avoid the publicity, when Randy approached me and thanked me. I still regret that I didn't stop right then and there and speak with him and the families. I apologize that I didn't stop. With all the media around, I didn't want to become their "story of the day", I wanted the focus to be on the verdict and the fact that justice was done. May God bless the families and keep Jenny and Elizabeth close by his side in Heaven.

I am horror stricken by the US Supreme Court's ruling today to abolish the death penalty for juveniles. How many times must Jenny and Elizabeth be victimized? Regardless of the laws...these beautiful girls' light and spirit will live on and far outshine the monsters we all walk with.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! This punks are going to be able to live! Supreme Court Rules Death Penalty for Youths Unconstitutional Tuesday, March 01, 2005 By Jane Roh NEW YORK ó The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday ended the option of the death penalty for 16- and 17-year-olds, stating that persons of that age cannot "be classified among the worst offenders." The 5-4 decision in Roper v. Simmons (search) affects 19 states that still subject youths to capital punishment, along with 72 death-row inmates who committed their crimes as teenagers. In a somewhat surprising development, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, previously seen as the "swing" voter in the case, joined Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist and Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas in a dissent. Rather, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion. "When a juvenile offender commits a heinous crime, the state can exact forfeiture of some of the most basic liberties, but the state cannot extinguish his life and his potential to attain a mature understanding of his own humanity," Kennedy quoted from the majority ruling. Kennedy, who in 1989 voted in favor of upholding the death penalty for 16- and 17-year-olds, cited the court's requirement it consider "evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society" in its reversal. Moreover, Kennedy implied that Tuesday's decision may have been overdue. "The impropriety of executing juveniles between 16 and 18 years of age gained wide recognition earlier than the impropriety of executing the mentally retarded," he concluded after comparing the histories of capital punishment for retarded and underage offenders. The court struck down the death penalty for the mentally retarded in 2002. Justices David H. Souter, John Paul Stevens, Stephen G. Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg also voted with the majority. The five affirming justices based their opinion on the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments ó specifically, on the prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. The offender in question in the case, Christopher Simmons (search), robbed and killed a 46-year-old Missouri woman in 1993, when he was 17. He is now 29. While a 1998 high court decision prevented his 15-year-old accomplice from being tried for capital murder, Simmons was convicted and sent to death row. The court's decision marks the third biggest restriction on the death penalty in 17 years, and may be seen by advocates as moving the United States closer to a full abolition of capital punishment. Juvenile justice advocates said they were "delighted" with the court's decision. "This is a huge win for us," said Bryan Stevenson, executive director of Equal Justice Initiative of Alabama. "The political culture is so committed to appearing rough you can never be too confident in what the law requires." Alabama has 14 inmates who committed their crimes as juveniles on death row, the second highest next to Texas, which had 29 juvenile offenders awaiting death and has executed 13 since 1976. Marsha Levick, legal director of the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia, said she saw broader implications for how juvenile justice is practiced in America. "The court has recognized that juveniles are categorically distinct from mature offenders. It's up to us as judges, advocates to explore those implications with regard to other forms of sentencing, the way they are treated in society," Levick said. But, she emphasized, juvenile offenders "can and should be punished in developmentally appropriate ways. Lee Malvo (search) will not get out of prison as a result of this decision. A Virginia commonwealth attorney had said if the court upheld the death penalty for juveniles he would seek the death penalty for Malvo, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2002 Beltway sniper shootings. A call to the Virginia attorney general's office was not immediately returned. Robert Blecker, a professor of criminal law at New York Law School, worried that death-penalty opponents would use the Roper decision to further chip away at fair punishments for the worst offenders. Blecker said opponents would next go after life imprisonment without parole for juveniles, would lobby to raise the age of eligibility to 20 or 21 and would argue against the death penalty for the mentally ill. "Think of the irony. They previously argued for life without parole on the same grounds ó juvenile offenders' character isn't fully formed, etc.," he said. Blecker also cited the case of Connecticut serial killer Michael Ross, who is at the center of a legal tug-of-war over whether he can be executed. "He murdered eight women and raped seven of them first ... then he was diagnosed with sexual sadism. Is that [his crime] sick? No, that's evil," Blecker argued

People that don't believe in capital punishment need to realize that things like this happen every day and going to prison or getting out on parole is not right. people like that should not have the privilege to live. clearly someone who takes a like has no soul. everyone that is against the death penalty has a rude awakening coming soon. I was living a few miles away from the site of the tragedy when it happened. I use to take my kids to TC Jester park which is very close to where these two beautiful girls were murdered. The death penalty was instituted for the monsters that did this. However, even with all of them being put to death, it won't serve justice because Liz and Jenny will never come back. I was looking on websites for my research project when I stumbled along this one. I had read stories of those who had been exonerated ,but none from those who were victims. I have always thought that the death penalty should be used for such heinous crimes as this, but never knew a personal story. I hope you don't mind that I will probably use this story as an example of those who should be put to death for their crimes. I am going to argue that the death penalty should be used for cases like this one. Thank you for telling your story to the world. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I want to say to the families that I am very, very, very sorry for what you guys had to go through. I read the story and it was shocking! The court system cannot let any of them free, not even with parole, ever! They missed their opportunity, and they should ALL be put to death. I don't know what it feels to lose a daughter, because I am only 18, but I do have a ten month old precious son, and I would probably go crazy if anything happened to my baby. I know that I would have to have justice. They all have the same fault, the one that raped them, to the one that only watched, he could have tried to do something to stop them, but instead he knew what the girls were going through and he didn't do anything about it. I feel really sad after reading this, but just think the God needed two more precious angels and he thought that jenny and Elizabeth were just so precious and beautiful, that he decided to take them to heaven. We miss you girls! I hope that when I die and go to heaven, that I get the pleasure to meet you two. Bye Bye.

Hi, I am really sorry about what happened to your daughters. I can't say that I must know how you feel, but I feel comfortable telling you that I too lost a loved one in a brutal way. I was only 13 years old when my mother was beaten, shot, and killed. I am now 19 years old and still cannot live with the fact that I have been on my own since and attending Southeastern Career College to become a paralegal. I just felt the need to share these things and my deepest sympathy got out to you'll. Sincerely Yours, Tocarro Sweatt, Nashville,TN

I knew Elizabeth in the 4th grade at Stevens elementary all the way up till the 8th grade at F.M. Black and I always thought she was really nice and friendly. I went to her funeral and burial. I am very sorry her and her friend went through that. I will always remember Elizabeth as a good friend of mine. Trevor Krahn

I just wanted to say that I didn't really know Jennifer or Elizabeth but I sympathize with you. I was in Elementary school when I first heard about this but I have never forgotten it. I attended Waltrip High School and everyday I would have to walk home, I would think of Jennifer and Elizabeth. I have lived on Nina Lee Lane by the Bayou all my life, and when I pass the bench and crosses you all have placed there in remembrance, I say a little prayer! I know itís not much but I just wanted to let you know that they are remembered. DEATH PENALTY ALL THE WAY!!!

DEATH ROW ALL THE WAY - THAT'S WHAT I SAY TO THIS CASE!!!!! STAY STRONG AND WHEN THE DAY COMES FOR THEM LOW LIFE TO GET PUT TO DEATH JUSTICE CAME THROUGH NOT JUST FOR ELIZABETH AND JENNY, AND THE FAMILIES, BUT FOR ALL THE OTHER VICTIMS WHOSE ACCUSER'S GOT AWAY. I LIKE TO SAY I WAS A VICTIM OF A GANG RAPE IN THE DALLAS AREA. AND THIS STORY JUST KICKED ME RIGHT IN THE A** AND IT MAKE'S ME SICK TO KNOW THAT AFTER YEAR'S THESE GUY'S ARE STILL LIVIN, LIVIN OFF ARE TAX DOLLARS. IT'S NOT FAIR. BUT THE DAY WILL COME AND I HOPE THEY FEEL SCARED AND THEY CALL FOR HELP AND THE GOOD THING IS THAT NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO HELP THEM. THEN THEY WILL KNOW WHAT DEATH WILL FEEL LIKE BUT NEVER KNOW HOW PAIN THEY MADE IT. DEATH ROW IS THE THE EASY WAY TO DIE. THEY NEED TO GET RAPED AND THEY NEED TO DIE THE WAY THEY LET SOME INNOCENT LIFE DIE. R.I.P ELIZABETH AND JENNY...............

when i read this story I cried so much. I am 16 now- going on 17 and Elizabeth never turned 17. and Jenny she was one true friend- she sacrificed her chance of survival so she could help Elizabeth- that's what you call a true friend- Jenny and Elizabeth were 2 beautifully and truly amazing girls and I hope that now their "shining their light down on us from heaven". and I know that eventually u guys and your families will be together once again. I was only 5 years old when they died. I thank god every day for his blessings and for him to bless you 2 and ur families - i am from new york city and many kids don't understand what living or life means once you truly lost someone forever. Jenny and Elizabeth's murder taught me to not take anything for granted, life is way too short and can be easily taken away and that life is a very special gift that your given once. God Bless Jenny and Elizabeth for the love they shared on earth when they were with us- we will never forget you and your presence will be with me and in my heart always and forever till the day comes for me to leave this earth. and when i do i hope i meet u there in heaven. with luv stephanie

I am sorry for your pain, which was so utterly senseless and so violently premeditated. I am a future victims' advocate in this state of Texas. I have only 16 hours to go until I graduate, then I will make it my life's work to change laws and try to protect families from pain like this. I am sorriest that I am cannot bring back what was so needlessly taken from you. God Bless You!

I live in Houston and when my son was 12 I took him to the area where these angels were brutally murdered and I told him, "do you see what gangs do? I want you to always remember what happened to these beautiful girls and never forget them. Please stay in school, respect your family and respect other people. He is now 23 and we spoke about Elizabeth and Jennifer tonight. He asked if the people that committed these crimes were still alive and I just said, yes, but I know that deep down they know their lives are over and might as well be dead. They have to pay for their crimes. I also want to mention that during the trial, I found a tape (Beta) on the floor next to a bench outside the court room that read: "Cantu" but I never saw it or knew who to return it to. It could be a tape that a reporter might have left behind, but I did not know what to do with it. I still have it and willing to return it to the reporter or photographer that may want it. Anna Lee

To the families of Jennifer and Elizabeth. While reading about the girls, it literally made me sick. It's hard to think that anyone could hurt and take the lives of those two beautiful girls. I feel in my heart that Elizabeth and Jenny are in much safer place. Their souls will rest with 'God', and their spirits will live forever within all of us. As for the boys who committed this awful awful crime. They may show no remorse now, but when justice is done on earth they will face a much higher power of justice. May "God" bless both your families. To Jenny and Elizabeth..."rest you angels" YOU TWO WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!

I have never forgotten Jennifer & Elizabeth even though I never met them. I am so sorry what happened. I think though that Pete, Joe and the rest were trying to get me & my 3 friends the weekend before. Long story, but I refused to their plan that they were plotting for us girls to separate by getting 2 girls per car with at least 3 guys in each. I refused for all of us girls to stay together, that we are not going to separate. Pete got really mad and started cussing at me. That is when I told the girls that we are getting out. I have to say I did not feel comfortable with the guys and they were planning something that night. Why else would they originally tell us to get in the car and then the 6 of them huddling behind the car whispering and then for Pete to come trying to separate. I don't think so. Later that week when I heard about Jenn & Elizabeth I started crying. My other friends that were with me that other night had called to see if I saw the news. I am so glad they got caught!!! You will always be remembered Jennifer & Elizabeth!!!!!!!!! Amanda

Just stumbled upon this website in Google. Very sad story and my sincere condolences and prayers to both families involved. This story truly brought tears to my eyes and I don't know these girls. Unfortunately I live in a state that does not have the death penalty intact, but I am in favor of the death penalty especially for situations like this. 14 or not, that kid KNEW what he was doing. He deserves death as well.

This has got to be the saddest story I've heard in a LONG TIME. Its terrible that people would actually do something like this. I am researching a paper for my school, Northwest on the death penalty. I am just sooooo sorry to hear this. I couldn't think of anything worse. I think those fukn bastards need to feel the same pain they did to your daughters. I am for the death penalty, but I think that'd be letting them off easy. they should get beat to death!!!! or else suffer til the day they die in prison while being raped by inmates the whole time. My prayers go out to your families and I only hope all of you can get through this tragedy. Just remember that they're in a better place now. And they're still best friends! I am so sorry....may God be with you all.

I am a teacher in the uk who uses the horrific story of Elizabeth and Jenny to explain why Capital punishment is still needed. My students are horrified that these people remain alive. Your loss will always be with you but I pray that you have the love and support needed to get through this awful experience.

It's stories like this that break my heart and make me want to work as a CSI or something along those lines to help the victims families find their loved ones. You are all in my thoughts.

The story of Jennifer and Elizabeth's' deaths is beyond horrifying and i am very sorry that it happened this way! Maybe when teenagers read this story they will think twice about the simple daily decisions they make everyday can change their entire life!

I found your site by accident. I was surfing the internet. I didn't think much at first. I saw the web address marked "murder victims." So, I was curious to see what your website was all about. I scrolled down and saw two beautiful pictures of young girls. So, I started to read the story that was there, mostly because I was bored. I mean no disrespect, I'm just being honest. And I couldn't believe what I was reading. I currently live in San Diego, but I used to live in Houston. Its really sad to hear about your loss. I feel for you. I want you to know that I believe in the death penalty, but those gang members should have suffered the same way as their victims. An eye for eye. My wife is pregnant with our first child and it's a girl. And I can't imagine what I would do if that happened to my daughter. I hope those boys burn in hell for the crimes they committed. Young girls shouldn't have to die in that matter. I think society and the government should be blamed for their deaths as well. Those boys had too much free time to get into trouble and they had no morals. Where were their parents? And they had no idea of penalties and the consequences for their actions. If, the government, states, and local communities would do more to get involved with awareness and prevention about gangs and crimes committed by teenagers. Then maybe, these girls would be here today. I love the city of Houston, but Texas is a hard place to live in. And I almost lost my life a few times there when I was younger. I've walked and driven through some of the worst areas of Houston, such as the south side and downtown. Its made me more aware of my surroundings and how to deal with people. People are capable of anything. Evil is everywhere and at any time. You have to fight to survive in this crazy world. You have to be ready for anything to happen. I don't know what else to say, except that I'm sorry for your tragic loss. And what's worse is that it happens every day some place in the world.

This is the first time that I have been to your site and well, I just felt the need to sit down for a minute or two and write down some things. When this story happened I was going on fourteen years old. Even though all of these years have passed I can still remember the way that I felt the day that I heard this happened. I live in Houston and have lived here all of my life. To be more specific I lived about 5 minutes from where this all happened. My parents bought a house in the Heights thinking that it was so much safer than all the rest of Houston. To make things even scarier...I remember hearing about the get together that Elizabeth and Jennifer were going to be at that evening. I remember how angry I was that my parents did not let me go, saying that I was too young and that the day would come that i would get my chance to go out and live my life. After this happened I remember going into my parents bedroom and thanking them for not letting me go out that evening. Not that going to the party would have been a bad thing but It would have just been a little bit too close to home for me. I remember hearing how all of the guys who were involved and hurt these two beautiful young women and thinking to myself "how could God have let this happen" I still have not come up with the right answer to that question and it has been years that have passed. Maybe there is not a "right" answer to the question, maybe all we can do is pray. I can remember seeing old pictures of these two girls and thinking "how could these "BOYS" have been this evil? Anyway, I guess I am rambling on about nothing now. I really just wanted to let your two families know that your daughters have stuck with me through the years. My parents were right...the time did come for me to go out and live my life, but because of Elizabeth's and Jennifer's story...My life was changed along with their families when this happened. Thank you for this site, and thank you for keeping this story alive because it has stayed alive in my heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just hope that this will make people realize that there are some crimes that you should get the death penalty for and this was certainly one of them. How someone could ever do something like this we will never know. I just hope that some day you will be able to think of those two girls and not feel so much sorrow. It is a good thing you are doing here those girls deserve to be remembered and have justice brought to those boys. May God bless you and he help the people hurt in this horrible crime.

My heart was broken as I read this. I am continually stunned and ashamed at the evil-cruelty of man. Mostly for their warped pleasure. I am the mother of nine children and eighteen grandchildren in a blended family. I pray daily for JESUS'S return to put a finale end to all this madness. Until then we can only continue to stand for goodness in the SPIRIT and fight the battle with a helmet of salvation-a breastplate of rightousness- bind our loins with truth-hold up the shield of faith- swing the sword of the SPIRIT-walk in the shoes of peace-boldly speaking the gospel-and be everpraying for the saints. My prayers are with you and also the innocent family members of the guilty, for they have suffering also. I myself have no problem with the death penalty when it has been proven without a doubt confessions have been given.I do believe though that without forgiving others for the horrible violations they may instill upon us , we will not be forgiven. As CHRIST forgave all that was done unto HIM. please do not let unforgiveness be another burden and heartache to you. GOD BLESS YOU. LETRUE

People like that, who rape and kill innocent people, deserve more than the death penalty. I am doing a speech on DP, and well, this site is going to help me support my facts. I feel deeply for you and their relatives and I think that, even Juveniles need to be tried as an adult and executed right away. There shouldn't be a thing known as death row. People should be executed ASAP after sentenced.

That story is so horrible! I can't even believe that there are actually those types of sick people walking among us. It's so sad. In one of my classes we're talking about the juvenile justice system and is it right to put "under-aged" people to death. There is a lot of debate in the class about whether it be cruel and unusual punishment because they aren't technically adults yet. I think that if they commit a murder such as this one, I think they should be put to death no questions asked. These people who could be so heartless and then brag about what they have done is horrible and need to be brought to justice. Thank you for sharing this story. I'm going to use this story as an example in my class. Thank you so much!

I recently stumbled upon ccadp (canadians against the death penalty) and was reading about 1 of the young men who was involved in these murders of Jenny and her friend Elizabeth and I started to feel sorry for him as I read his ad placed for a pen pal. Then I found out what he was accused of doing and all that sorry went to confusion because I always thought at the age of 17 the child could be saved, changed or rehabilitated. now I am not completely sure of how I feel. Reading how these 2 young girls were murdered, I wondered how it was 17 year old boys could be so cruel and responsible for this type of crime. How could something so evil be carried out? How these 2 families deal with this pain day today is hard for me to imagine but it's amazing how they do it. I hope that one day it will get easier for both families.....

First of all may god bless you and allow you to smile. All these people upset that you want the death penalty for the boys who took your girls away. I'm with you on this. As they sit in the chair to be put to death they will be so scared and good. They won't feel the same as the girls did. Could you imagine how scared they were? Fry those animals. I have a son and if any one hurt him I would personally push the button.

I'm extremely sorry for what happened to your daughters. I'm sure there's nothing I can say to make you guys feel better cuz I never even heard nothing like this. I feel disgusted hearing about this and for what it's worth your daughters' stories are making a difference. It made me look at punishment for juveniles very differently. I'm only 15 - I was doing a paper on the death penalty when I came across this. i want to say thank you for helping me.

One of our son's friends was murdered on New Year's Eve, 2004 at a party with "friends". My husband worked with Dustin's dad for many many years, though we haven't had contact with the parents for 3 or 4 years. And Dustin's sister was present when he was stabbed. We loved Dustin (he was only 22 years old) and want to say something to ease his parents pain. And we cannot begin to imagine what his sister must be going through. I found your site while trying to find those "miracle words" of healing for Dustin's family...... We are from Houston and watched and read about your ordeal from the first news report -- and prayed for your girls and your families. I've been to a thousand websites and haven't found the right things to say YET to help a parent or sibling who is going thru this hell. Perhaps there aren't any words. Please say a prayer for Dustin, and his family.
