What those boys did to your girls, is the most cruel thing I have ever heard. They didn't seem to be remorseful at all. I feel that they may have been just under 18 at the time of the crime, but the way that they abused your girls was a decision that they made. Not a child-like decision at all. They should have received the death penalty and I'm so sorry for your loss. God Bless You RW Lake Lure, NC USA

I have never heard of such a story before...until now. I am doing a project in my class about the death penalty and
I didn't know whether to be for or against it...but now your daughters stories really make me want to have a change of heart...I know its probably been a while but
I'm sure God is making things alright. Please just trust in Him and know that whatever happened wasn't right and they didn't deserve that...I can't say that
I can relate but it brings tears to my eyes jus to know that happened...I hope and pray that you guys are being blessed....With all my love

I think all of the lads who did that to them innocent girls should have been given the death sentence, you cant go round killing innocent people and expect to get away with it. Some people are seriously disturbed in the head, who in the right mind would ever dream of putting two young girls through that and it's not only the girls that have been hurt its their families too. What can one say of such a horrific crime. I have been reading through the comments and please remember hate breeds hate. Its hard to put into words my disgust of what happened to this young girls. I
don't like how it makes me feel. I want to see these sub-human animals that did this suffer for life. Living thier entire life in torment and pain never knowing peace. I dont know if hell can promise that. I mean I have never been there and I don't know of anyone that has. Its things like this where vigilantism sounds like a good plan. Bury them alive each in a 4x4 concrete casing with a 4" PVC pipe going above ground. Feed them make them eat, sleep and deficate in this 4x4 tomb. The only way death will come for them is to starve and that takes a long time and very painful.

I have always had a lot of reservations about the death penalty given the flaws in the legal process, but if ever this form of justice seemed appropriate this is one of those situations - this is not even an eye for an eye given the pain these girls had to endure. It won't bring them back but these men do not deserve to experience the joy of just being alive for what they have done to others.

I am deeply sorrowed for your loss. I have often wondered how people find the strength and courage to live on after dealing with such
tragedy! It is inhumanity such as this that has put me on a journey to God and salvation because of my fears for my two little girls (6 yrs. & 21 mos.) as they grow up and venture into society. I have not really prayed for too many things in my life, but I surely do for them; for I know it is probably the only way I could deal with such a loss and keep my sanity. I am so sorry for what happened to
those girls. I heard today that those monsters are not getting what they wanted, what BUSH was going to give them. I am happy for that. I once had to testify against a group of gang members that gang-raped a girl downstairs from my apartment. I had
experienced rape myself so when I heard screaming I was scared to death. I was just 16 years old myself and this girl was 14. She was at her 18-year-old friend's house with the guys. I knew the other girl and had met the 14-year-old once or twice at the local park. I opened the door of the apartment and she was on her back on the floor. A guy was sitting on her chest and another at her legs. One guy watching was holding a knife to her ribs. I was so afraid. I told the guys I had already called the police and they had better let her go. They brought the knife to me and told me they would do the same to me. I
slowly walked past them into the bedroom, picked her up off the floor and
slowly walked out the front door. I took her into the parking lot because my baby nieces were in my apartment. And flagged down my mom's friend. She took us to the hospital and the girl did not want to go in because she thought her dad would be mad at her. We called her parents and everything was taken care of. Later I was called to court. I was living in the town by then where the majority of the gang lived. I did not want to testify. I was engaged and 5
months pregnant with my first son at the time I had to go in. I did not have a drivers
license either. I did testify and it was a closed court where only the rapist gangsters and the girl were
supposed to be able to see me. The families and the gang members were right outside the doors when I walked in and when I left. They were
threatening me and bumping into me. I was more afraid than I have ever been in my life (and I have been through more than a lot can imagine). I was almost ran over a few
months later walking to the store. And followed by gangster girls and haunted for a very long time. I eventually moved far far far away, and am very
grateful that I am alive myself, that that girl is alive, and that
Those monsters got what they deserved also. I wish someone could have been there for your girls. Sometimes just a presence can change the future. So just let everyone you know and everyone you talk to to never turn away. We can change the world by not looking away. Sent with Love and Hope.

I can't even imagine the pain and frustration you have dealt with. I thank you a thousand times over for making it possible for victims relatives to attend death sentences. I don't know if I would have the strength to do what you did. But I would want to be at every death chamber when each sentence was carried out. The fact that 3 of these animals will escape the death penalty is atrocious. These felons never have to follow any legal system while committing crime yet we are made to follow it when trying to convict.

As "ex"-law enforcement, whose duties were to interview and investigate crimes against women and children, I was a new tool in the 1980's, for breaking silence in courtrooms of the most easily victimized. Forensic science has come a long way since then....unfortunately no matter how advanced we become in the ability to solve a crime....we have continued to regress in our ability to deter it. I am left confounded by the fact that hundreds of thousands of people can vote for justice, 12 peers of the defendants can invoke that justice, and a hand full of black-robed individuals just because they hold that power can make justice.......just....go away. To Jenny and
Elizabeth's family, yes, I will call the White House, as a voter, as a mother, and as a human being that somewhere along the way possibly failed to do enough.

I am disgusted about these killers, and rapist have it made by a life sentenced. Only more disgusted by actually knowing how they live in the prison system. I was a Correctional Officer at one of the units that housed Medellin's little brother that
was involved in this. We are not told what they did and sometimes did not want to know for the fear of becoming emotional and angry. Supervisors would tell officers that they are here to maintain custody and control. I worked there several years ago and I seen a picture of these girls and remember seeing them when I was only 13 at the time this happened and I can't
believe that I actually supervised this animal. Well I worked on the other side of the gate and this offender has it made he works in the laundry hemming uniforms for officers and works in a place that has no or little supervision. He is well known to the officers. For God Sake he washes uniforms, presses, and hems. Know it makes me sick to know how these wardens treat him very special because of the fact he does a great job with their clothes. He was in a program that allowed missionaries to come and bring them free-world food every 6 months called an epiphany. He was the chaplain's helper and everywhere he was smiling and laughing and was eligible for parole starting in 2005. I just cannot believe the animal used to hem my uniforms with a smile.

It upsets me that they want to speak so highly of our country and there is no place better to be, but if it was so great we would never let anyone get away with such a heinous act of violence. To both
families, your daughters were beautiful. I was just browsing my internet and somehow, came to this website. I have never heard anything about this case before, but as soon as I read the first couple sentences, I had to read on. I read everything. I'm only 18 years old but when I have children, if I have a daughter, I would kill anyone who did that
to her. I'm glad those disgusting, filthy people who hurt your daughters are dead. I hear so many stories like this on the news and in the papers. These things happen everyday. And
that's pitiful. There are too many innocent victims of these types of crimes. There should be no authority given to anyone to chose when to take another person's life. But
revolting people like the ones who murdered your daughters take it upon themselves everyday. I can't fully feel your pain, but I sympathize and I am
truly sorry for your loss. I hope when I have children of my own they are as pretty as your daughters.

My precious son was murdered August 22, 2004 by a woman that is bi-polar and
delusional. She got off free. Melissa Golden of Rockwall Texas. She said they were boyfriend/ girlfriend. Justin Wright was engaged and very happy. We understand your grief. I live daily wishing I could have been in front of the 6 bullets. She shot him first in the back of the head...once in the face...twice in the chest...twice in his torso. He bled to death. I am never able to sleep without seeing his precious face. I miss him terribly. Prayers to you and your family!

I came upon this website looking for research for an essay paper. What happened to these girls is horrendous. The time those animals spend in jail will be a cake walk compared with what they will be forced to answer to one day. They will all have to answer to God. May God bless you and your families. I just wanted you to know that this website is still being viewed, and changing lives.

How can words describe my pain for the families of Jenny and Elizabeth? I hope the sentence of death can be carried out. How can the parents of the killers look at themselves in the mirror, they should be held accountable for the crimes of their children. All the killers should live in solitary

I'm writing a letter to Bush, telling him what I think, with copies going to Congressional representatives. I first heard about this case when I moved to Texas in 1996. It reappears in the news from time to time, and I'm still moved by it. Most hypocritical is the fact that in 1999 a Canadian was executed in Texas, Joseph Stanley Faulder. He tried to use the Vienna Convention, just like
Medellin is doing. Notice what was said then and now:
Then:
Asked about the international legal aspects of the case, a spokeswoman for Gov. George W. Bush said that was a matter for the courts.
Pressed on the diplomatic nature of the issue, particularly since Governor Bush is a Presidential candidate, the spokeswoman said, ''Canada is a friend and neighbor of the United States and we hope Canadians understand that Governor Bush has taken an oath to uphold the laws of Texas, including the death penalty.''
Now:
Medellin petitioned the Supreme Court for a writ of habeas corpus. But in 2005, the court dismissed the case after Bush, in a goodwill gesture to Mexico, promised that the U.S. "will discharge its international obligations … by having state courts" adhere to World Court rules.
Just the other day, I heard Bush say: "You can't be president unless you have a firm set of principles to guide you as you sort through the world's problems."
Yeah, right.

I say all those cowards should have been executed long ago! Why should their lives be spared or extended? Especially when they themselves showed no remorse! To hell with the fact that they were juveniles at the time of the crimes. I was a juvenile once.. and while I went through life's trials and tribulations, I didn't take my anger out at hurting other people! If nothing else, they should all die in prison-EVERYONE ONE THEM! Even the youngest one-who participated in one of the rapes!

I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you in my prayers. I am currently studying for my BA in Criminal Justice and am in the process of writing an essay on the death penalty. I am 100% for the death penalty and think that they should bring back hanging on the court house lawn among a few other methods of execution. Some execution methods, in my opinion, are too easy a sentence for the evil doers. I honestly think the punishment should fit the crime. May God bless all of you and keep you in His prayers. God bless you and your families. I can't imagine what you have been through, I can only say that my prayers are with you. I firmly believe in capital punishment and this is such a case where the death penalty should have been applied to all 6 murderers.

My heart goes out to the family of these beautiful, baby girls. It saddens me to hear that the monsters involved did not get the justice they deserve because of their ages at the time of this horrible crime. But they will find out
- as you mentioned, be careful what you wish for... I believe juvenile protection for heinous criminals is unacceptable practice. I hope to see one day this will be rectified. I have four sons ages 18, 15, 11 and 9 years-old who know that hurting anyone is wrong... especially women. No one could ever make me believe that these boys, regardless of their ages, didn't know that they were committing a crime. My 9 year-old can tell you that. God bless you all and peace be with you.

"Do we need a death penalty?" They did
unnecessary things to your children - that needs to be justified on how and why they basically was at the wrong place and the wrong time.. This is most def

Only tonight I found your page from links on another site. I was one of the "other convicts" mentioned in the post.
(It has been some 27 years since I was last
released from prison.) You are right in that the animals who brutalized these two young Ladies will not be "treated well" in general population.
I fully support the death penalty. But, I would take it at least one step further. My idea of
execution for such as these (I won't honor them with the term "people" because they aren't human, in my opinion.). If I had ANY say in the way such as these were
executed, it would be by public impaling. And their
corpses would be left on display until nothing was left but their dry bones.
Deterrent? Probably not. But the ones
executed would be deterred. When I tell friends of my idea, they say, "That's too brutal!" My response? "And you think what they did to [for example] Elizabeth and Jenny was kind and loving? Not so. These animals deserve worse than anything I could ever think of. They stole the future of these two young Ladies. They stole happiness from their families and friends. They deserve worse than what 'normal' society will give them!"
The animals who had their sentences commuted to Life will "get theirs" in the end. The average convict detests such as these, and they will (I can almost guarantee) be
brutalized themselves.
And it is clear from the pictures, the world
is less without your daughters. Love and Prayers to you and Elizabeth and Jenny.

It has been a while since I last visited this site. It still breaks my heart to read about these two beautiful young women with a whole life ahead of them. Each of these boys should have gotten the death penalty.
I know what murder does to a family first-handed. My own firstborn, beautiful daughter, Wendy was brutally murdered as she laid sleeping in her bed. If you are not safe at home, where are you safe? www.angelfire.com/in2/Angel2
I will continue to keep both families in my prayers.
May peace and comfort be yours,
Brenda

I am shocked at the details of the incident and cannot see why anyone would allow a stay of execution for any of these men, including those who were minors at the time. There was no excuse and these girls should be alive today. My prayers go out to the families of both girls.
I am also in an Ethics class and the question about whether or not the death penalty should abolished is one of our topics and I am whole heartedly FOR the death penalty, especially when the crime is a
heinous as this,

I visited this site to gain information for a paper that i am writing. It is supposed to be an un-biased opposing positions
paper, but after visiting your site i am finding it very hard to be un-biased. These people knew what they were doing. I would love to think that at some point something in their head told them that what they were doing was wrong. Either they didn't get that thought or they did and just chose to ignore it. They need to be executed like the scum that they are.

I read every day of murders like those of Jenny and Elizabeth. It makes me so sad but more so it makes me frustrated that the murderers get away with it and are seen to get away with it. The death penalty should be automatic and quick. They should not be given the mercy they withheld from their victims. That is the only
deterrent for would-be killers that may, just may, make them think again before they do it.
I would like to attach the verse we say when remembering our fallen comrades in the British Army. It is all we are left with and applies to these two beautiful youngsters as well as friends I have lost:
"They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
and in the morning
We will remember them."
I will never forget reading about this tragedy in America and wish all concerned the strength to live on.

I read this page after I heard about the outrage of this incident and its aftermath.
I hate to break this to you, but to add an insidious insult to the injury these girls' families have already endured, the most notorious member of the gang responsible for this brutality has entered a "prison Pen Pal" entrance for email to enable people who are interested in doing so to write to him. The Canadian Coalistion against the Death Penalty, or CCADP, I know how painful this may be to read, but I wanted you to know that this organization promotes sympathy for brutal murderers while condemning the efforts to bring them to long-delayed justice.
It would behoove the readers of this to send notes to this organization to point out the amount of pain and suffering that they are inflicting on people who are already hurt beyond recovery, and their compassion is directed in a most cruel and sadistic direction.
Sincerely, Shawn J. Higgins

My heart aches for the loved ones of these two
innocent girls. I am a mother and a grandmother and
couldn't bear the pain of losing them. I support the families and want to see justice done to these criminals who so heartlessly took these innocent girls lives. President Bush should be ashamed of himself for not only selling out America but not supporting justice for these girls. If it were one of his daughters who was the victim of this heinous crime, I am sure we wouldn't be talking about this man and others who will benefit from Bush's decision preventing this killer and others be punished by death as they deserve.
My prayers are with the family and loved ones of these two girls and I will write and do everything I can within my power to support the death penalty in this case.

I am so sorry for your loss. Today is the first time I heard of the murders though they happened in 1993. President Bush has two daughters and I do not understand how he can wipe his hands clean so easily and not see that all of those involved meet with justice.
I have two daughters also- and I cried special tears for these beautiful young women and what had happened to them. Especially when one of the young women appeared to be free and went back to help her friend. I only wish she had a cell phone and had called 911 and gotten help immediately. I pray for their souls and know they are in a far better place and no one will ever hurt them again.

I was sitting here doing research on the Death Penalty for my Sociology class. At first I felt that no one had the right to judge another human being, and then take that person's life, that only God had that right. After reading all the details of these girls
brutal murders, I have a different opinion. My heart goes out to the family and friends of the two girls, may God comfort them. I will pray for them too. For I am a mother of 2 teenage girls, I can't imagine something like this happening to them, May God be with all of you. And may justice be done. All of these men who did those
horrible things to these to girls should die the same horrible death that they did. I think the Death Penalty is too easy for them. Someone should do the same things to them as they did to the two girls. Now that would be justice.

As a 20+ year veteran of the corrections system and a former Chief of Security of Condemned Row in Arizona, you have my sincere sympathies. For many years, I have watched the games and BS between the CR inmates, their families, and their lawyers. The worst part is, most of the lawyers are public defenders, or federal public defenders. This web site is beautiful, and is a reminder to us all of why our jobs are so important to those who depend on us. Bless you, may you find peace without pain.

Mr. Pena:
I am a late-comer to this horrible tragedy that you and your wife have been suffering from for all these past years. I listened to you on some radio interviews over the past couple of days and I was stopped cold in listening to the recent events unfolding with the Supreme Court weighing in on this Medellin appeal. There are no words sufficient to wash away your pain
and suffering, so I won't even attempt to do so. But as one fellow human being and the father of three children, there is rarely a day that goes by that I am not wishing that I could
have been hovering in the air close by each of them for protection. I am praying that the Supreme Court does not reverse this conviction. I am so disappointed in George Bush in this regard. His alliance with Mexico and his stance on illegal immigrants in our country completely baffles me. Your daughter would be proud of you and her mother for being so strong and persistent in seeking justice
for her and Jenny's tragic deaths. I wish you good health and peace in your life.
Kind regards,
Robert Guinaugh
