I came upon this site while doing an Anti-Death penalty report. I was sick to my stomach after reading this article. This psychopathic crime against humanity only shows that as much as we like to think of our lives as safe, there's always someone else to throw your life into a spin it will never fully recover. The Gang that was responsible for this, shouldn't be put to death. Death isn't good enough for them. Everyday of their lives they should feel the torment, knowing they not only took someone's life, but they made their last hours on earth, hell. I was doing research for a school debate on the death penalty, and came to this website. It took my breath away, and gave my heart out to the parents of the girls who lost their lives so tragically. I thank the people who made this website. This will help me very much in my multi-media class. I think the people who did this horrible crime, should be left to die a long death. I am not so much into the death penalty, because I think that killing more people with the government money is a waste, when we could be using it for other programs. I however feel that the world is a better place without these people being in it. I feel as though they should die painfully, just like their victims did. I think they should be closed off into a room and be ignored and let them die a long death. I am not quite sure if I am in full favor of not having the death penalty though. I live in a neighborhood several miles away from T.C. Jester park, where Jennifer and Elizabeth were killed. I was in 11th grade and attending Scarborough High School, the rival of the high school that the two girls attended, when the attacks occurred. Needless to say, this hit very close to home for me at the time. It was, and still is, one of the most horrific events I have ever heard of.

However, as many things will, given enough time, I had placed the events in the back of my mind - until the other day when I ran across this site. When I read the article, I was stunned. I had no idea the attacks were that brutal and depraved.

I didn't know the two girls, but they were a part of the community that was ripped from us by these animals. To honor their memory, this morning I rode my bike to the memorial by the side of the railroad tracks, and I stood silent for several minutes, paying my respects to their memory.

I will not forget.

I have been trying to figure out what my feelings are about the death penalty. I came across this website about a year ago and it broke my heart. I continue to look at those two girls and my heart aches. I am so angry that this has happened to them. I also ran across the name of the boys who did this to them and wrote to one of them, Jose Medellin. I called him a monster and that he didn't deserve to breathe. His response shocked me. He told me that I have an anger problem. He continued to tell me that he did not do it, that he was unconscious. I had to quit writing him because he was sucking me into this fantasy that he is wrongfully accused. So, now every time I think I might feel sorry for him, I read this website and again, remember the monsters that are responsible. I pray that they might never see the light of day and that death will come quickly for these monsters. I pray that Jennifer and Elizabeth are at peace somehow. Hello, I live in Menomonie, WI. I am a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and I found this site when doing some research on the death penalty. I have to write a proposal for an English class. My proposal is that every state should have the death penalty for reasons exactly like this one. I live in Visalia, CA, a 19-year-old college student attending the nearest community college, College of the Sequoias. In my group Speech class, we are assigned to debate over certain topics, and ours is the death penalty. My group is pro-death penalty. I've always been for this penalty, but as I began looking for websites on the internet about the issue, many discussed how the death penalty is wrong, and it shouldn't exist. Of course, I don't know how you feel about it. But after I read this story, which is the first case I came upon, I felt sick to my stomach, as if a painful cramp began to establish a home inside of me. It's still there. You may hear this all the time, but I can't believe what has happened to these young beautiful children. I remember when I was 14, I was such a rebellious child, never wanting to listen to my parents. Why would I want to do that? When I was 16, I naturally matured, but I still felt that there was no reason for me to die the next day. Why would there be? But to think that this terrible incident could have easily happened to me, or any of my close loved ones, places a harsh lump in my throat, and I find myself crying. I look back at that age, and I think to myself, "God, I was so naive." I put myself at risk way too many times. I'm not saying these girls were looking for trouble, because I feel that they must've been great people with great personalities. But I know I was looking for trouble, subconsciously. Why didn't it happen to me? It could've happened to me. Why does it have to happen at all? And why did it happen to your children? This may not be any help, but my sympathies go to the families of those girls, despite the fact that it happened several years ago. Anyway, I feel that in this situation, the death penalty is so necessary, and I am for it. I don't know if my decision matches yours or disagrees, but whether or not, this option of punishment is fair enough. For those people who feel that the death penalty is not a punishment, maybe you're right. But at least we know that the murderer or rapist will never be able to repeat the crime again, not even in their dreams or nightmares if they were to solely spend their lives behind bars. If I were to ever hurt someone the way these men hurt your daughters, I wouldn't want to live with myself anyway.

I am so terribly sorry about what happened to these two girls that you knew so well. While I will never fully understand the pain you have gone through, it is still hard for me to understand why you would want these men killed. What if they were sent to jail, every day, for the rest of their lives, to think about and even partially pay back what they took from you? Don't you think that these men are mentally sick? So shouldn't they get serious help so they understand the pain they put you through? I am doing a report in my english class right now on capital punishment. I happened to stumble onto this page and as I read the description here, I became horrified at the way some people act. This story reminds me so much of my sister Roxanne and how brutal all homicides are. The Ertmans won justice by keeping this monster behind bars. Gangs are career criminals--they all share the same twisted thinking and a lifestyle of hate and destruction. I remember this story in the Bobit pub Death Row. Looking up research for my paper on capital punishment/death penalty, I came across this article. I'd like to send my deepest condolences to the families of Jenny Ertman and Elizabeth Pena. I was saddened, horrified, and outraged to read about their senseless murders. I don't know if my message will be read by family members, but please, if it is, I do not wish or intend to bring up bad memories by talking about the situation. So please, forgive me if they (comments) do. I have been morally "confused" regarding the death penalty for quite some time now. In class, I have weighed both issues (for or against) regarding the death penalty, but after reading about the horrible events regarding Jenny and Elizabeth and looking for some "validation" in the bible, I have come to the conclusion in my mind and soul that capital punishment is morally justified when appropriate--especially with the case of Jenny and Elizabeth. I have two small boys with another one on the way in January, and all I could think of, was something like that happening to my kids. I am outraged to see the bastards lousy faces on the reports and personally wanted to cause physical harm to them as I became angry reading about the case, but I am in no position to do such things to them. I know God is the only one who will decide their future. Again, I am terribly sorry and saddened for the girls and their families. I will pray for them and their families and I hope that they remain strong and just keep the girl's memories alive. Praise the girls for who and what they are. I would just like to say that my heart does go out to you all and I hope that someday life can get easier for us to deal with. Dillon Ray Farrer is my angel and he was only 23 months old. I thank God though that there are people out there who are still fighting for there kids, and who are fighting to get the kind of justice that is well deserved. I honestly just wish they would seek the death penalty on my son's murderer's case. They won't because they say that he would not be a continuing threat to society! Can you belive that???
