Because, Etty, there was less evidence in Larry's case than the others. There was sufficient evidence to link Broxton to the crime, but not enough to present in court. The prosecutors wanted only the strongest evidence for their case, and they got it in an eyewitness.
Newspaper accounts in our area carried Larry's name.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I, too mourn for the loss of my husband. Dan died in 1994. We had a good life together, just small problems that were solved with a hug and a kiss. We also mourn for his sister Rita Rabalais who died from the
result of a gang murder. She was 82 years old and was stabbed many times and stuffed in her bedroom closet. I went to check on her after morning
mass
(which she never missed attending) and could not locate her. I called my daughter then the police. After seeing furniture displaced they checked the closet and found her body. It has been a
grievous 10 years. After many trials in court two were sentenced to death and the others have all gone free. there were 9 in all in her house that morning. Now the Supreme court justices (ha) have ruled that one of the boys was 16 at the time and he will not face death but life in prison. Too bad Rita did not have a supreme court justice on her side.

I saw that you wrote an entry into my "Aunt Rita" Rabalais' guest book and was very touched by it. I didn't realize at the time I read it that you, too, are a loved one of a murder victim. It seems that there are similarities with our two loved ones murders. The fact that someone can beat, stab, and murder an honest, loving, decent child of God and then stuff them in a closet is
inexcusable. My Aunt was also shoved into her closet after being murdered. I just can't imagine a minimum of nine big, ole boys busting into her home and doing such a vile and evil thing.
I know how much you are hurting. My dad (Rita's brother) had just died in August before her murder in October. We weren't even settled down from his sudden death when this horrible event took place.
May God keep you close to His heart and show you daily that He cares for you.
I would like to hear from you whenever you have time.
I do wish I had consoling words for you, but I guess we both know that words won't really help our sorrow. They will ease the sting, however, just by knowing someone else who has gone through the same tragedy has thought about you and wished you well.

I am deeply sorry for ur loss. As i read what u have said i'm touched tremendously, we have so much in common, i have been struggling for the last 2 yrs as to what i should do. I know i wanted to do the tough love on my husband but because i fear he will never return i have chosen not to. I Have dealt with the alcohol abuse for such a long time that i dont see our lives being any different, we were very young when we met, me 15 and him 16, he's been an alcoholic since then, 13 yrs later and 3 beautiful children and i still cant get him to change. I am sorry for the lost of your beloved husband. Sometimes things in life happen beyond our control, but never feel guilty for his moving out you did nothing wrong. It was the person who took your husband's life that should be guilty and asking God for forgiveness. Your husband will always live in your heart and all those precious memories that the two of you have shared. Diane, I loss my Daughter Twila just last
August and I wanted to go where she was shot it was a local park but the police told me to wait for the tape to be removed I went two days after. She was killed the evening before and they did not tell us until 7:20 am I wondered why they did not tell us while doing the
investigation of the site so we could be there. I am sorry to hear you did not get to see your husband for his service I think it would not of made it real to me as it was it was hard to believe she was gone, I understand the ups and downs of marriages mine is 25 now. All felons should die after the first trial even if they are under 18. The legal system gives felons rights. I

My sentiment about convicted murderers remains the same: They are allowed a stay of execution and appeals...when do the victims get paroled and allowed to come back to life? They are allowed visitation on a regular basis...when do the victims get to see and talk to those they love and miss? The killer knows what date and time he will die, the victims are never allowed this luxury. the killers are allowed mail,
showers,
friends, and counsel; Last time I checked...the u.s postal service doesn't deliver to heaven.
I do not know the details of your case, or the one you loved. I just wanted to wish you
peace,
and send a prayer and small support words across the miles.
I'm a criminal Justice major, and after reading so many stories of offenders, I wanted to know the other side of the story. I began looking at memorial sites and signing guest books...some of which have been sadly empty. I think to be good at investigating crime, you must first see its impact on those left in its wake.
