I knew and loved Debbie in the early 70's, as her brother-in-law. I also knew Bill and Ronnie. Today I see Debbie in Bucky's eyes and smile. She is truly missed and loved and I am sure she is smiling down from heaven at this moment. God Bless You Debbie, Steve

It does not make sense to me how Karla Faye Tucker was somehow transformed into a victim. Born again christian or not, she killed two people. Drugs impaired her ability to think clearly, well that's a consequence when using drugs. In my opinion if she was a born again christian then she is right where she needs to be. After all the bible says an eye for an eye, right? So sorry for your loss. Hope it helps to know that some people believe that the real victims were Mr. Dean and Mrs. Thornton and their families.

I am so so sorry what happened to your wife. I went to church with Mr. Dean's sister at the time of the murders. I will NEVER forget the horror on her face the next day when she found out about the murders. I DO think Karla Tucker was a changed woman but I also feel she understood that we have to accept the penalties of our actions here on earth even though she would be going to Heaven if she sincerely felt remorse and asked His forgiveness. I had two daughters die two months apart n 2001....one of my precious Babies, my youngest, it was a probable murder. So I do understand how you must feel to a degree. (No one can totally understand what their fellow human being is going through.) I can assure you that I feel horror at what was done to your wife...I cannot read the details and it is impossible for me to understand how a person could do that to her. And this is Debbie's guest book, to her wonderful memory. God Bless you and your children. God Bless

Its a sad story and it breaks my heart to know that people are actually capable of doing things like that. My heart mostly goes out to the family of debbie thornton. I will continue to pray for your family...God bless you

I saw the story on Notorious (A&E). I believe although it was hard, justice was served. We are sorry for your loss and deeply moved by your appearance at the execution and all that you continue to do for her. Thank you for being the voice to remind all those who choose to second-guess the process that those we need to be listening to are the victims. God Bless you.

I just wanted to be a voice of support for you. I completely agree with your statements, thoughts, and beliefs. I remember going to Seabrook Intermediate School with your son, "Bucky" (as we called him), shortly after this horrible crime happened. My maiden name was Paige Haswell, but he probably doesn't remember me, considering what he was going through. I didn't know him closely, but he hung out with my circle of friends. (I think he "went with" my friend Abby Davis in 7th grade.) And, I remember imagining what pain he must be going through and looking at him and knowing there was nothing that any of us could say or do to make him feel better after such a tremendous, horrible loss! I wonder if the people who say Karla Faye Tucker's life should be spared, have thought about the lives, like Bucky's, that were affected by this? Doubtfully! And, if Tucker's execution causes even one potential killer to pause and question whether he/she wants to be executed and prevents even one more child or family member from having to go through what Bucky (and your family) did than her execution was well worth it. God bless you and your family. I hope you all can find some semblance of peace and normalcy!

i am so sorry mr. thornton for the loss of your beautiful wife. i am also a victim of a brutal crime and i survived only because i pretended i was dead. its been several years since it happened. I think i can now say i have found an inner peace only because i have a life here and also i have a husband and a 15 year old who does not know anything what happened to me but god knows how i protect her. I had to forgive the person who did this to me so i can start the healing process. i can not forget this that is the hardest to do and i am taking medication for this i really need the help of my church which i do get. debbie thornton looks like a beautiful woman i can tell by her eyes that she could be a true friend. i hope you and your daughter find peace and peace will stay with you god bless you both.

My heart aches for you Richard Thornton. I first learned about your wife's death when a music group known as the "Indigo Girls" actually wrote a song about the murderer of your wife. Now having read about the circumstances of your wife's death, and finding out the truth about her murder I am even more of a proponent for the death penalty, than I was before I heard about your wife's death. Sadly our Canadian Government did not give the population a right to our say when they abolished the death penalty up here. Having read the facts about your wife's brutal murder, I feel everyone who is a proponent of the death penalty should email the Indigo Girls and tell them they have done a terrible injustice to you, to your wife and her memory by writing their song. Faye Tucker took your wife's life, and according to the laws of your state, she was tried and convicted and given a sentence which the jury determined was just and fair. I suggest everyone go to this link and read the words of this song I mention above: http://www.indigogirls.com/lyrics/byalbum/social.html#faye_tucker and then send your email to this address, which is the address through which the Indigo Girls can be contacted to indicate your feelings about how this song that one of them has chosen to write. (And to think I once was the number one fan of the Indigo Girls before I critically examined their song and also learned the true facts about Debbie's murder.) : igfan@mindspring.com I am appalled at the amount of coverage in the media and on the internet devoted to Faye Tucker, and the scarcity of attention devoted to your wife. I had an awful childhood and an awful life, and yet I have never murdered anyone, nor hurt anyone deliberately in my life. And yet all of these websites devoted to Faye Tucker make excuses for her behavior, because of her childhood, or her family life. Faye Tucker was the one who decided to to commit this heinous crime and she had to pay the consequences for her behavior based on the laws of your state and country. I am so sorry for the loss of your wife. Victims of crime and their families deserve to be heard, and your website will serve to be a cornerstone upon which the rights of victims and their families for justice will always be upheld and through which their voices will always be heard. Peace to you and your family Richard, Sincerely, A caring Canadian
